Product Idea—Bluetooth Flash Drives

Posted by Tom on the 6th of October, 2009, at 9:53 am.

Eventually, when bluetooth becomes cheap enough that it can be included in flash drives while keeping the price below $20, maybe it can be used to replace the USB connection. Isn't that what wireless-USB does—abstracts a USB-like logical connection to a wireless physical link? Or is that not a Bluetooth thing?

Of course, there's also the issue of selecting which computer in a room to connect to. Maybe there could be an ABC keypad on the device to dial a passcode as provided by the computer? We don't want this to get to complicated, though, or it won't be any easier than plugging in a normal drive. The "always connect" option would be preferred, so you could use the drive while it's in your pocket.
